Elon Musk Is Confident That Tesla Cybertruck Will Be A Safe Vehicle

Following the Cybertruck's recent launch, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has confidently addressed the electric pickup's safety, emphasizing its superiority over traditional counterparts. Responding to a review praising the Cybertruck's safety features, Musk stated, "Tesla is highly confident the Cybertruck will be significantly safer per mile than other trucks, both for occupants and pedestrians."

This sentiment aligns with observations made by electric vehicle enthusiasts, who noted the Cybertruck's sloped front and AI-powered safety features could serve as major contributors to the vehicle's enhanced safety. One EV fan, @WholeMarsCatalog, referenced a study from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) which highlighted the increased risk of pedestrian fatalities in accidents involving trucks with high front ends. Conventional and popular trucks like the Ford F-150 and the Chevy Silverado are infamous for having high front ends.

While official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) crash test results are yet to be released, Tesla has provided glimpses of independent testing conducted at its Gigafactory Texas crash lab. Additionally, the company posted a job listing for a Collision Readiness Program Manager, further indicating its focus on safety. Aerial flyovers of the Gigafactory Texas complex have shown images of Tesla's in-house lab conducting crash tests on Cybertruck units.

Tesla's focus on the Cybertruck's safety took center stage during the vehicle's unveiling event. Elon Musk, for one, highlighted three "feats of strength" for the Cybertruck, each one showing how tough the all-electric pickup truck really is. Of course, a tough vehicle is expected to also be capable enough to protect its occupants in the event of an accident.

With its innovative design and focus on safety, the Cybertruck marks a significant step forward in the electric pickup segment. The industry eagerly awaits official crash test data to validate Tesla's confident claims and assess the Cybertruck's true safety performance against its rivals. Thus, all eyes are now on the NHTSA and organizations such as the IIHS, just so we can see how the Cybertruck stacks up against its competitors in the popular pickup truck segment.

So far, history is on the Tesla Cybertruck's side. All of Tesla's cars, after all, have proven to be very safe. The original Model S made headlines because it literally broke crash testing equipment. The Model X received perfect crash test results. The Model 3 was considered one of the vehicles with the lowest probability of injury, and the Model Y was also deemed an extremely safe car.
